How to create and apply Themes in Valotalive

Themes apply your company's fonts, colors and backgrounds to automated content displayed on your screens - ensuring a consistent, professional look across all your displays.

What a Theme Controls

Themes define three main visual elements:

Background

Every app has a background that sits behind the content. Choose a solid color or an image as the background.

The three main visual elements controlled by a Valotalive theme - background, typography, and color palette.

Typography

Customize the font family and color for titles and body text. Valotalive offers over 250 fonts - custom company fonts are also available on request.

Typography settings apply to automated content such as SharePoint news, public news sources, and Viva Engage posts. Content created in PowerPoint or Google Slides keeps its original styling.

Color Palette

Each automated post uses a defined color palette:

  • Background color - the main color behind your content

  • Frame color - the border or outline around the content

  • Font colors - applied to title and body text

  • Accent colors - used for dates, dividers, and call-to-action text

For best visual results, follow the 60-30-10 rule:

  • 60% dominant color

  • 30% secondary color

  • 10% accent color

Background image uploads have a 10 MB limit. For best quality, match the image to your display resolution - for example, 3840 x 2160 pixels for a 4K display.

An app background color can be layered on top of the background image to create a semi-transparent effect. Adjust the opacity from 0 (transparent) to 1 (fully opaque).
