Valotalive themes allow you to apply your company’s branding—like specific fonts and colors—to all the automated content on your digital screens. Each theme is built in layers, starting with the background and moving up to the content. This ensures a consistent, professional look across all your displays.
What a Theme Controls
Valotalive themes control three main elements of your content's appearance.
Backgrounds
Every application has a background that acts as a visual buffer between the screen's edge and the content. Background can be an image or a solid color.
Typography
Themes let you customize the font family and font color for titles and body text.
Valotalive offers over 250 fonts, and you can also request custom company fonts.
These settings apply to all automated content, such as posts from SharePoint, public news sources, or Viva Engage. Note that content created in other programs, like PowerPoint or Google Slides, will keep its original styling.
Color palette
Each automated post uses a defined color palette that includes:
Background color: The primary color behind the content.
Frame color: The color used to outline the content or post.
Font colors: Colors for both the title and body text.
For optimal visual impact, it's recommended to follow the 60-30-10 rule for color usage:
60% for dominant color
30% for secondary color
10 % for the accent color
Accent colors (at the bottom row) are used sparingly for elements like dates, names, and other small details.

Configuring the background
In the theme settings, choose BG to edit the background.
Select either Color or Image as the background type. Note that background image uploads have a 10MB limit.
When using an image, ensure it matches the display resolution (e.g., 3840 x 2160 pixels for a 4K display) for optimal quality. Upload the image to Valotalive.
An app background color can be layered on top of the background image or color. This creates a semi-transparent effect. The opacity of this layer can be adjusted from 0 (transparent) to 1 (fully opaque). Partial transparency works best with background images.
Typography and Color Adjustments
Font Modification: Hover over text elements (title or body text) to reveal a pen icon. Click the pen to modify the font family and color.
Edit the title and body fonts in a similar fashion, but independently.
Accent Color Modification: Similarly, hover over the accent color circles to access the pen icon and change the color.
Note: The smaller circles are not used by the apps and can be ignored.
