How to Display PowerPoint Presentations on Digital Signage

Connect Microsoft 365 PowerPoint to your Valotalive displays. Updates made to your presentation in OneDrive or SharePoint are automatically reflected on screen.

Prerequisites

  • A PowerPoint file saved in OneDrive or SharePoint — each app can only be connected to one file

  • The file must be shared with anyone who needs to update the displayed content

How to activate the MS PowerPoint App

  1. Go to the Valotalive Dashboard and click New App

  2. Find the MS PowerPoint App and click Activate

Configuration

  1. Theme

    Theme settings do not apply to the PowerPoint app. Valotalive takes screenshots of each slide and displays them exactly as they appear in the presentation.

  2. Authorize with OAuth2

    Authenticate Valotalive with your Microsoft account using OAuth2.

  3. Select your PowerPoint file

    Use the OneDrive file picker to select the presentation you want to display.

  4. Advanced settings

    Click Show Advanced to access additional settings.

    • Seconds per page

      How long each slide is shown per cycle. Best practice is 10–20 seconds.

    • Show page numbers

      Displays the current slide number and total count. Generally not needed as page numbers are typically embedded in the presentation itself.

    • Expand to full screen

      Removes margins to maximize slide size on screen.

    • Choose pages to show

      Select specific slides to display.

  5. Rename the App

    Click the app name at the top of the page to rename it. Best practice is to name it after the PowerPoint file it is connected to.

Choose the PowerPoint App when:

  • Your content changes frequently and updates should appear on screen automatically

  • You do not need to schedule individual messages.

Choose the My Content Channel when:

  • Your content has a specific start and/or end date.

  • You need to display videos.

  • You create and publish content from a mobile device.
