Who this is for
IT managers, procurement leads, and Valotalive Admins planning a large media player deployment. Your pre-provisioning partner, an authorised distributor such as CDW, handles the device enrollment.
What is the automated claim process?
Normally, an Admin adds a display by opening a New display in the Dashboard and entering the PIN shown on the screen. With the automated claim process, you skip these steps.
When your partner enrolls a device and enters the correct information, Valotalive creates the display automatically, with its name, location, and tags, before the device arrives on site.
It works together with Zero Touch Enrollment, a Google program that lets authorised distributors pre-configure Chrome OS devices for customers.
Benefits
No manual claiming: you do not open a claim page or enter a PIN
Pre-named and pre-configured: each display appears with its name, location, and tags already set
Ready on first boot: the device starts playing Valotalive content when powered on
Scales easily: deploying 100 devices takes the same Admin effort as deploying 1
No manual steps: You do not need to go to the New display, visit the claim page, or enter a PIN from the screen. The display is created automatically in your Valotalive Dashboard based on the information your partner entered during enrollment. |
What you need
Chrome OS media players sourced through an authorised pre-provisioning partner that supports Zero Touch Enrollment
An active Valotalive account with Admin access. Your Customer Success Manager coordinates the Valotalive-side setup
A Google Workspace or Cloud Identity account, which is required for Google Device Management
A network connection at each location that meets the Valotalive network requirements
Planning a large rollout? Contact your Customer Success Manager before you place the purchase order with your distributor, so Valotalive is configured before the devices ship.
How the process works
The deployment involves four steps across three parties: the customer, the pre-provisioning partner, and Valotalive.
Step | Who | What happens |
1 | Customer | Prepares a purchase order (PO) for the pre-provisioning partner. The PO includes a table of device information: Asset ID (the display name), Location (where the display will be installed), and optionally notes (tags or organisational grouping). |
2 | Pre-provisioning partner | An authorised distributor (such as CDW or similar) enrolls the devices using Zero Touch Enrollment in Google Device Management / Partner tool. They enter the device information into the custom fields for each device and input other needed data, such as the Enrollment Token. The partner then ships the labeled media players to the correct customer sites. |
3 | Valotalive | Once the media player is powered on, Valotalive reads the device (behind the scenes) information and automatically creates each display in the customer's dashboard with the correct name, location, and tags already applied. No manual claiming, no PIN entry, and no New display flow is needed. |
4 | Customer | When the media player arrives and is powered on, it automatically starts playing Valotalive with the correct content based on its configuration. No setup is required on site. |
What the customer needs to provide
Before the pre-provisioning partner can enroll the devices, the customer must send them a purchase order (PO) that includes a table of device information. Each row in the table represents one media player and must include:
Asset ID: The name the display will have in the Valotalive Dashboard. Use a clear, descriptive name that identifies the location or purpose of the screen.
Location: The physical address or location where the display will be installed.
Notes: Optional. Use this field for any additional information such as display tags, organisational grouping, or site-specific details that Valotalive should apply to the display.
Additionally, the reseller requires the pre-provisioning token and Customer ID. Valotalive will provide these details directly to you.
Naming tip: Use a consistent naming format across all devices. For example: Site Name [Display Number]. This makes displays easy to find and manage in the Valotalive Dashboard. See the recommended naming conventions article for guidance. |
What the pre-provisioning partner does
The authorised pre-provisioning partner handles the technical enrollment. Using Google Device Management or pre-enrollment partner tools, they enter the customerâs device information into the custom fields for each device. The fields are:
Field | What to enter | Example |
Asset ID | The name of the display (media player) as it will appear in the Valotalive Dashboard | Acme Headquarters [26.010] |
Location | The physical location of the display | Main Road 1, Fairfield, New Jersey, USA |
Notes | Any additional information about the device (optional) |
|
The partner also configures Valotalive as the kiosk application on each device, so that the media player launches directly into Valotalive on startup without any browser or OS interaction visible to the user.
Once enrollment is complete, the partner ships each labeled media player to the correct customer site.
What happens when the device arrives
No action is required from the customer when the media player arrives on site. To start the display:
Connect the media player to the display and to the network.
Power it on.
The device automatically connects to Google Device Management, applies its configuration, and launches Valotalive.
Valotalive reads the device information and displays the correct content based on the displayâs assigned tags and configuration.
First boot time: The initial setup on first power-on may take a few minutes as the device downloads its configuration and any pending updates. This is normal. The display will start playing content automatically once setup is complete. |
Need help?
Zero Touch Enrollment deployments are coordinated with the Valotalive Customer Success team. If you are planning a large-scale rollout, contact your Valotalive Customer Success manager before placing the purchase order with your distributor to ensure the configuration is set up correctly on the Valotalive side before devices ship.
