How to Set Up the Valotalive Web Player

Step 1 – Open the Web Player on your display device

  2. A pairing code appears on screen alongside the Valotalive logo

💡 Use the QR code on screen to quickly open the claim URL on your phone.

  2. Log in to your Valotalive account if prompted

Already have a PIN? Hover over the Web Player screen to reveal the PIN entry field instead of using the claim flow.

Step 3 – Assign Content

Once claimed, the display appears in your Valotalive Dashboard. Assign a Flow or add apps directly to it as you would with any other display. Content appears immediately after publishing.

Using the Web Player in production

For production use — where the Web Player runs continuously as a display — follow these recommendations to ensure a reliable experience.

Install it as a PWA

The Valotalive Web Player is a Progressive Web App (PWA). Installing it as an app on the device gives a cleaner, more reliable experience than running it in a browser tab:

  • On Chrome or Edge: Click the install icon in the browser address bar (a small screen or download icon) and select Install. The Web Player opens as a standalone app without browser UI.

  • On Android: Chrome will prompt you to Add to home screen. Tap it to install.

  • On other browsers: Look for an Install app or Add to home screen option in the browser menu.

Use kiosk mode

For production displays, run the Web Player in kiosk mode to prevent users from accidentally navigating away from the content. The method depends on your device:

  • Windows: Use Windows Assigned Access (kiosk mode) to lock the device to a single browser or PWA. See the Valotalive article on setting up a Windows kiosk for guidance.

  • Android: Use your device management system or Android's built-in screen pinning to lock the display to the Web Player app.

  • SOC displays and custom media players: Enable kiosk or URL player mode in the device settings and point it to https://pwa.valota.live. Refer to your device manufacturer's documentation for kiosk configuration.

Keep the browser updated

The Web Player runs in the browser, so the performance and compatibility of the display depends on how current the browser is. Use a modern, actively updated browser for best results. Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Edge, Chromium) are recommended.

Offline playback: If the network connection drops, the Web Player continues playing any content that has been cached — displays keep running without interruption. New content updates and changes made in the dashboard will not appear until the connection is restored and the player syncs.
