How to set up a Single-App Kiosk for Valotalive on Windows

Kiosk mode locks your Windows media player to run only the Valotalive Digital Signage Player app - ensuring your displays always show the right content and recover automatically after a reboot.

What is Kiosk Mode?

Kiosk mode restricts Windows to run a single application in full screen. Users cannot access other settings or applications on the device. If an error occurs, a simple reboot automatically relaunches the Valotalive app - no IT intervention needed.

Why Use Kiosk Mode?

  • Ensures displays only show your intended content

  • Prevents users from accidentally closing the app or changing settings

  • Enables automatic recovery after errors or reboots

How to set up Kiosk mode:

There are four ways to configure kiosk mode on Windows:

Option 1 - Windows Settings (recommended for basic setups)

The easiest option for most setups. Configure directly in Windows Settings without additional tools.

Option 2 - PowerShell Script

A more technical option that requires coding knowledge.

Option 3 - Windows Configuration Designer

An advanced tool for complex or large-scale configurations.

Option 4 - Microsoft Intune or MDM Provider

For organizations managing devices through Microsoft Intune or another Mobile Device Management provider.
