Microsoft Excel online showing empty pages on the Digital Signage display

1. Reauthorize the Excel Integration

Often, the connection between our dashboard and Microsoft needs a "handshake" refresh to maintain security permissions.

2. Verify the correct Excel file is selected

Sometimes the link to the specific file can break if the file was moved or renamed in OneDrive/SharePoint.

  • Open your Excel App under Apps

  • Go to the App's Configuration tab.

  • Use the Microsoft File Picker to re-select your desired spreadsheet.

Note! You can only do this to the Excel app you own yourself. You can check the App's owner under Information tab

3. Check your Data Range & Sheet Name

The most common cause for empty pages is a mismatch in the data range settings.

  • The Format: You must use A1 notation: SheetName!TopLeft:BottomRight.

  • Mandatory Rows: You must include row numbers (e.g., A1:C10).

  • The Default: The default range is A1:Z24 (first 24 rows of the first visible sheet).

Important Requirements:

  • Capitalization: All column letters must be in CAPITAL letters (e.g., A1:C10, not a1:c10).

  • No Spaces: Ensure the sheet name in your Excel file does not contain spaces.

  • Exact Match: The sheet name in the settings must exactly match the tab name in Excel. If your tab is named "Tabelle1," your range must look like Tabelle1!A1:C10.

4. Inspect the Source Status

If the settings above are correct, there may be a deeper connection error.

  • Go to the App's Source tab.

  • Look at the "Source is pushing data" field:

    • βœ… Green Checkmark: The connection is healthy. Double-check your data range in Step 3.

    • ❌ Red X: There is a connection failure between Valotalive and Microsoft Excel Online

If you see a Red X in the Source tab, please contact your company's Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) Administrator to ensure the Valotalive app has the necessary permissions within your organization.

If you have tried all the steps above and the screen remains blank, our support team is ready to help!

  • Include: A screenshot of your Excel App's "Source" and "Configuration" tabs, and a screenshot of your excel spreadheet for faster resolution.
