How to Connect a Chrome OS Media Player to Wi-Fi

Manually connect your Chrome OS media player to a Wi-Fi network — useful when the Wi-Fi password has changed or network settings were not preconfigured on the device.

Use these steps if the media player has lost its network connection or Wi-Fi settings were not configured during initial setup. A lost connection is usually visible when screen content stops updating or an orange Valotalive icon appears on screen.

This applies to both Valotalive Managed and customer-managed Chrome OS media players.

What You Need

  • A mouse and keyboard

  • Wi-Fi SSID and password (SSID required only if the network is hidden)


Steps to connect

  1. Attach a mouse and keyboard to the media player's USB ports

  2. Power off the media player, wait 15 seconds, then power it back on.

  3. While the Media Player is starting, press CTRL + ALT + S

    This stops the Valotalive Kiosk app from launching and gives you access to network settings.

  4. Select the time in the bottom right corner

  5. Select Not Connected
    Note: If you see your Wi-Fi network name with a signal strength indicator, the device is already connected

  6. Turn on Wi-Fi - the media player will scan for available networks

  7. Select your network and enter the password to connect Connecting to a hidden network:

    • Select Join other Wi-Fi networks

    • Enter the SSID and password

    • Click Connect

  8. Select the Valotalive app from the bottom left corner of the screen to relaunch it.

  9. Remove the mouse and keyboard

Your content Flow* will begin playing automatically.

  • Alternatively, simply reboot the media player after connecting — it will reconnect to the saved network automatically.

* Content Flow, to play automatically, requires pre-configured settings
