How to set up and configure Status Alerts

Set up Status Alerts to push full-screen emergency messages to all your displays instantly — no login needed at trigger time. Configure presets, then contact Valotalive Support to get your control URL.

To set up Status Alerts, Valotalive opens the app in your dashboard, you configure your presets in the Configuration tab, then contact Valotalive Customer Success to receive your unique control URL. Once you have the URL, your team can start triggering alerts immediately.

What you need: A Valotalive Admin role. The Status Alerts app must be opened for your account by Valotalive before you can access it.

What is the Status Alerts app?

The Status Alerts app lets you instantly push a full-screen message to all your Valotalive displays with a single toggle — no login to the dashboard required at the time of triggering. It is designed for operational situations where fast, facility-wide communication is critical: scheduled maintenance, production stoppages, evacuations, or any other scenario your team defines.

You configure up to six presets, each with a custom title and image. Each preset represents one type of message. When a preset is activated via the control URL, it takes over your displays immediately and stays live until toggled off.


Setup process

Setting up Status Alerts involves four steps shared between your team and Valotalive:

Why the secret comes last: The control URL only works once Valotalive has generated the secret string for your account. This is why you contact Customer Success after saving your configuration — not before.


How to Activate the Status Alert App

Once Valotalive has enabled access to the app you can start activating and configuring the app

  1. Go to Apps

    Valotalive Dashboard's left side panel with Apps, Flows, and Displays tab

    .. and click New App

  2. Find the Status Alert by searching its name or filtering by Overlay App under App type

  3. Click Activate and give your app a name

How to configure your presets

  1. Open the Status Alerts app on its Configuration tab in the left navigation.

  2. You will see six preset slots, each with two fields:

    1. Title for the content #1–6:

      — the alert name shown in the control panel (e.g. "Scheduled Maintenance" or "Fire Evacuation")

    2. Image for the content #1–6:

      — the visual displayed on screen. Click Select an image and upload. Accepted formats: JPEG and PNG.

  3. Repeat for each preset you want to use — leave unused slots empty.

  4. Click Save

  5. Contact Valotalive Customer Success (support @ valota.live) to confirm the configuration and receive your control panel URL.

Image content: The image you upload is what appears full-screen on your displays when the alert is triggered. Design each image to be immediately clear to anyone in your facility — it should communicate the situation at a glance without needing to read additional text. The visual design, branding, and messaging on each image is entirely up to you. All images should match or exceed your largest screen's resolution. For a 4K landscape display, use a minimum of 3840 × 2160 pixels.


Your control URL

Once Valotalive Customer Success has provided your secret, your full control URL is:

Keep it accessible: Share the full control URL with the supervisors and floor managers who will trigger alerts. Bookmark it on the devices they use. No Valotalive login is needed to access the control panel — anyone with the URL can trigger an alert.

Once you have the Status Alert secret, update any value in the App, save your changes, and the UI will become active.


Assign the Status Alert app to your screens

Once configured, assign the Status Alert app to the displays where you want it to appear.

Prerequisite

  • The "Manage Display Groups" permission is enabled for your Admin user account (User group). This permission grants access to the Tools > Overlay Apps section, which is required to assign the Status Alert Overlay app.

Updating your presets

To change a preset title, replace an image, or add a new preset:

  1. Log in to the Valotalive Dashboard and open the Status Alerts app.

  2. Go to the Configuration tab.

  3. Edit the Title or Image fields for the preset you want to update.

  4. Save the configuration.

  5. Contact Valotalive Customer Success to confirm the update has been applied.

You do not need a new secret when updating preset content. The control URL stays the same.
