Left side tabs for configuration, navigation and troubleshooting

INFORMATION tab

The INFORMATION tab shows metadata about the app and surfaces any active errors or warnings.

CUSTOM APP'S ID

  • A unique identifier Valotalive support uses for troubleshooting.

SOURCE

The type of app and where it fetches its content. For example, the MS Excel app fetches data from the M365 cloud, while the My Content channel uses content uploaded directly by the user.

CONFIGURATION LAST MODIFIED

The date the app's configuration was last changed.

OWNER

The user who owns the app. Ownership matters when authorizing connections to third-party services such as Microsoft cloud. You should only authorize apps that you are listed as the owner of.

APP TYPE

Either Digital Signage or Embedded, depending on where the app is used. Digital Signage apps are used on info screens. Embedded apps are used on intranets or similar third-party pages.

Error and notification reports

OUTSTANDING REPORTS FROM PLAYERS

Problems reported by the display hardware.

OUTSTANDING SOURCE REPORTS

Unresolved errors coming from the service platform or integrations.

LATEST NOTIFICATION FROM THE SOURCE

All general errors and notifications from the service platform or integrations.

REPORTED APP ERRORS SINCE YESTERDAY

Recent app-level errors. This field is only visible if there are errors to show.

CONFIGURATION tab

The CONFIGURATION tab is where you set up the app's content and behavior. The available settings vary depending on the app's data source.

App-specific configuration guides can be found here:

SOURCE tab

The SOURCE tab shows the current status of the content source and helps diagnose delivery issues.

SOURCE

The type of content or data source, for example MS Excel or My Content.

SOURCE IS PUSHING DATA

Indicates whether the content source is active and working.

✅ A green checkmark means data is being transferred successfully
❌ An red X means no data is being transferred — this may also indicate that the app has not yet been assigned to any display.

LATEST CONTENT

The timestamp of the most recently delivered content. Comparing this with when content was last produced helps confirm whether the app is working correctly.

CURRENT DATA

May show a small preview of the actual content. Not available for all apps.

Error reports

OUTSTANDING SOURCE REPORTS

Errors coming from the content source, for example the Microsoft cloud.

LATEST NOTIFICATION FROM THE SOURCE

May include information about authentication keys or similar integration status.

ADVANCED MANUAL CONTROLS

Use Restart or Recreate if the app is not showing new data after a reauthorization and the screen is still not updating.

Example of the Apps Source tab

USAGE tab

The USAGE tab shows where the app is currently in use — which Flows and which Displays it has been assigned to. You can navigate directly to any Flow or Display from this tab.

If the app has not been assigned to any Flows or Displays, it will show as unassigned.

Note: if an app is assigned to a Multiview App (split screen), it may also appear as unassigned here.

Example of the Apps Actions tab

ACTIONS

From the ACTIONS tab you can:

  • Edit the name of the app

  • Copy the app's link

  • Delete the app. Deleting an app will remove it from all Displays and Flows.

HELP

The HELP tab contains introductory information about the three core elements of the Valotalive Digital Signage system: Apps, Displays and Flows.
