Stretched or distorted content on display — how to fix it

If content on your Valotalive display looks stretched, squished, or distorted, the display orientation likely doesn't match the media player's settings. Here's how to fix it.

Written by Katariina

Stretched or distorted content on a Valotalive display usually points to one of two problems:

  • Orientation mismatch — the media player's orientation setting doesn't match the physical display (for example, a portrait display configured as landscape, or vice versa).

  • Incorrect image scaling — the content itself isn't sized to match the display's resolution.

How to fix stretched content

Check the display's orientation settings

  1. Go to Displays and click the affected display.

  2. Open the Layout tab.

  3. Compare the device dimensions shown in Valotalive with the actual physical display:

    • Landscape display = wider than tall

    • Portrait display = taller than wide

If the dimensions don't match the physical screen, the orientation is wrong.

Fix the orientation

Use one of these methods:

  • Factory reset the display — restores the screen's default orientation, which usually resolves the mismatch.

  • Change orientation via the Chrome box — adjust the rotation setting on the media player itself so it matches the physical display.

FIX: Reset the display to Factory settings.

Check the content itself

If the orientation is correct but content still looks stretched, the image or video may not be sized for your display's resolution. Replace it with a file that matches the display's aspect ratio (typically 16:9 for landscape or 9:16 for portrait).

Change the orientation of the display by commanding the Chrome box
