Excel App Content Is Not Updating on Screens

If your Excel file was previously displaying on your screens but has stopped updating, follow these steps to identify and resolve the issue.

Use these steps if your Excel app was working previously but has stopped updating on your displays.

Step 1 – Reauthorize the Excel Integration

The most common cause for content stopping is an expired authorization between Valotalive and Microsoft.

  1. Find the M365v2 integration and click Reauthorize

    Excel reauthorize button. Excel uses the same API as PowerPoint and is part of M365 bundle.


Step 2 – Check for Source Errors

Open the Excel app and go to the Information tab, look at these two fields for error messages:

  • Outstanding source reports

  • Latest notification from the source

These notifications come directly from the Microsoft Excel API and help identify the root cause.

Common errors and fixes:

Access Token has expired

The app owner needs to reauthorize the app

Query error

Check that the configured data range in Valotalive matches your Excel report fields

File not found

Confirm the Excel file is still in the same cloud location with the same name — if moved or renamed, re-establish the connection by pairing the file with the Valotalive app again


Step 3 – Check the Source Status

  1. Go to the app's Source tab

  2. Check the Source is pushing data field:


Step 3 – Trigger a Manual Refresh

💡 Tip: If the source status looks healthy but content is still not updating, make a small change to the app settings and save. This triggers a content refresh and pushes the latest data to your displays.
