Filter SharePoint News in the Valotalive SharePoint App

Use SharePoint filters in the Valotalive SharePoint app to display targeted intranet news on your digital signage displays.

The Valotalive SharePoint app automatically displays your Microsoft SharePoint Online News posts on digital signage. Apply the same filters you already use in SharePoint to control which posts appear and target specific audiences.

How filtering works

The Valotalive SharePoint app follows your existing SharePoint filtering rules. Common filters include:

  • News Type

  • Audience

  • Translation Language

Filters are applied when a SharePoint post is tagged with the matching values and filtering is activated in the Valotalive SharePoint app configuration.

Note: All filters are case sensitive.

Set Up Filters in the Valotalive SharePoint App

Before you start, make sure you have:

  1. Configured filter views in SharePoint Pages.

  2. Activated and authenticated the Valotalive SharePoint app — see MS SharePoint App – Activate and use

  3. Tagged SharePoint news pages with filter values.

Set up filters

  1. Go to Apps, select your Valotalive SharePoint app, and open the Configuration tab.

  2. Confirm the correct SharePoint site is selected.

  3. Under SharePoint list filters, choose a filter type (e.g., News Type or Audience).

  4. Select an equality/relational operator.

  5. Enter or choose the filter values and click OK.

    Your configured filters will appear in the list view, as shown below.

Finish up

Save your changes, then assign your app to a flow or directly to a display.
